TJ give us a run down on your season this year?
Riding wise this season was so different from any other season i've ever had
, putting myself less in the city and more into the back country, less in the
park and more in the pipe, i just tried something a little different this year
. it was rad too since i didnt have to stress at all for filming , with capita
making its first ever team movie " first
kiss " filming was more of a lets go snowboarding vibe rather than lets
go get the gnar shot feel... it was really a fun year.
I heard you were a big influence in starting the Capita movie what has it been
like shooting your own stuff?
So crazy... it was not such a huge chage for me to be behind a camera, in years
past ive been on the solo tip and just submitted footage i filmed with my friend
dwayne. but this year was a little different , to actually step up and film FILM...
super 8 and 16mm, it was really cool, working with josh was amazing, just bouncing
ideas off that kid was fun. im really excited to see what he makes.
Who are the up and coming riders involved with Capita?
Every one that is involved with capita is up and coming, each one has something
totally different and awesome about them, i really feel they all could be superstars.
So art seems to be a big influence in your life do you apply art to your snowboard
lifestyle in any way?
Ummm... thats hard, I dont think its that i apply my snowboarding lifestyle to
my art... i dont really apply snowboarding to art... if anything my art just
has a lot of parts of my life in it, but more of the personal stuff... |

Who
is your favourite artist and why?
I have a lot. basquiat is wonderful, his use of color and style was amazing,
darger was so brilliant, his images are so amazing! So stoked to have a sleeve
of some of his work with me forever... tons of artists.
So your chilling at summer camp at Whistler hows that treating you?
I’m so tired! Its like this every year for me. the sun can really take
it out of you. everyday though i go up and find myself having so much fun , Camp
of Champions really stepped it up this year with tons of new features to just
mess around on.
Who was your favourite pro snowboarder when you were growing up?
I always loved peter line, jamie lynn and terje... every year i looked forward
to seeing their parts and trying everything that they did.
If you could give one word of advise to the young and up and coming snow shredders
what would it be?
Relax... I just see so many kids stressing about it, complaining that no one
said anything about the cool trick they did, or how they aren’t getting
sponsored even though they can do a 1280 or whatever, i just think the kids need
to relax, have fun and everything they deserve will come to them
Whats your favourite trick?
Right now im feelin the hakkons in the pipe. but i think front 3 tails are my
fave trick to do, when they are big they just feel so cool.
Who is your snow OG crew that you shred with most of the time?
OG is the wymans back in red deer, but that was in 96, since then its scotty
shaw, dustin craven, jib shredding with dwayne... the og 138 crew was sweet too.
Any cool future plans in mind?
So many cool plans... Working on so many things right now.
You snowboard because?
Its super so cool!
Shout outs...?
Too many to say really so ill just say everyone! Say hey at www.myspace.com/tj138crew or www.capitasnowboarding.com
play safe everyone - tj |
